Seven games, three wins, three draws, one defeat (excluding penalties), ten goals scored, seven conceded. That was basically the statistical summary of Inter’s pre-season campaign. Starting off from the lowly set up Stadio do Cornaredo in Lugano to the ravishingly colossal Wanda Metropolitan in Madrid, where Inter finished off with a solid 1-0 win over Atletico Madrid.

Here are seven positives that will get you intrigue about the new season.

Lautaro Is A Beast

There were some skepticism arousing with the arrival of Lautaro, some often mislead by prejudice compared him to Gabriel Barbosa. Well, unlike Gabigol, El Toro needed just 16 minutes to announced himself on his debut game against Lugano. Throughout the preseason, he has showed flashes of brilliance; couple with a unique technique, and exquisite finishes. Decisive with two match winners. He ended the campaign as top scorer with 4 goals from 7 games.

The Team Gets Better Each Game

Apart from their disappointing outing in game 2 at Sion, the rest of the games have been somewhat an upgrade from the previous ones; More cohesion and solidity as they progresses. The Nerazzurri scored 6 goals in their first four games but just one conceded in their last three, including two clean sheets in the final two matches.

Dalbert Has Improved Vastly

Having arrived late from Nice last summer, Dalbert have struggled to emulate the same performances here. He was closed to joining Monaco two months ago but the deal fell through after both teams couldn’t reached agreement. Thoroughly looks like a new signing in this pre-season. He has added some confidence, and precision.

Asamoah Is Very Versatile

He is arguably the best player during this preseason. He has shown a high level of consistency, quality, experience and fitness. He has brought a whole new dimension to the team and, complements Dalbert a lot. He has played as a left back, left wingback, left central midfielder and left wing forward. And excellent in those positions.

What Has Spalletti Turned Brozovic Into?

Months ago Brozovic was almost unwatchable, frustrating and less motivated. Totally a different player now, and thanks to beautiful work of magic from Spalletti we now have a player that is dominant, highly spirited, consistent, resilient, tenacious and dynamic. Brozovic elevated Inter’s lacklustre pre-season performances with a remarkable display in his 60 minutes outing against Atletico Madrid. He was very inspired and commanding.

Don’t Expect Much From The Youngsters

Over the years, Interisti have unfairly set anomalous high standards for youngsters, certifying failures for the ones that failed to arrive at it. Truth is not every youngster is bound to world class.

Yann Karamoh started the pre season on fire with two clinical strikes, but, with time he fades away. Xian Emmers plays with great confidence against weak oppositions, but totally overshadowed against top opponents. Facundo Colido have appeared in only three games (all as a sub) before leaving for COTIF with the Argentine U-20. Eddy Salcedo and Maj Roric are promising but they are only good enough for the Primavera.

The Team Is Ready For This Season

The essence of friendlies is primarily fitness check ups and experiments. Inter have tested different systems, strategies and players. Conclusions can be drawn that the squad is in great shape and form to get the campaign started
