Bergomi: “Inter Should Not Target The Scudetto”

Inter legend Giuseppe ‘Beppe’ Bergomi reflected on Inter’s defeat to Sassuolo on Sunday among other Inter related topics in his weekly column for La Repubblica.

“Inter have met a well-organized team, which took the field with the right attitude. Magnanelli and Duncan played a great game in midfield.”

Bergomi, who spent his entire playing career at Inter, then spoke on Inter’s performance in the transfer window.

“Inter had a good transfer campaign. They did not redeem Rafinha in favour of signing Nainggolan because they needed a few more goals as Icardi and Perisic are not enough. If you look at Modric, it means that you think you need quality, so you chase a player able to get the ball out fast, without the fear of the opposing pressure, who can do it in his place? Spalletti tried Asamoah but he is better off elsehwere, last year Inter won a lot of points with Borja Valero.”

Bergomi concluded his column by addressing Inter’s scudetto credentials.

“I do not think that Inter should have the Scudetto as a goal. The goal is to confirm ourselves among the top four and to pass the group stage in the Champions League.”
