Icardi Expected Things To Start Differently

Inter captain Mauro Icardi expected things to be different on Sunday as Inter kicked off their 2018/19 Serie A campaign with a 1-0 defeat at the hands of Sassuolo according to a report from Gazzetta dello Sport.

“Icardi imagined a different start to what should be the season of consecration for him, with the first adventure in the Champions League in his career. It has been a goal pursued to the sound of goals, but never realised before last May. In order to be ready, he opted for a targeted preparation which for the first week of training he worked separately with a trainer at his side.”

Despite all his preparation, something all too familiar happened on Sunday’s game for the Argentine striker.

“The first half in Reggio Emilia saw Icardi as the only Nerazzurri player to be dangerous, something Spalletti did not want. Politano fired blanks, while Lautaro never delivered either.”
