Inter are not looking to make excuses for the defeat to Sassuolo at the weekend and yesterday the club’s hierarchy stressed that the team can and must do better in a meeting with them at Appiano Gentile according to Gazzetta dello Sport.

“It is not fair to talk about a team in terms of relationships: much more simply, the hierarchy are disappointed by the performance of the team. They wanted to emphasise to all the protagonists the idea that they can and must do better in the future.

“The team is considered up to date and able to make up for any absence. Ultimately: Inter do not think about running after excuses.”

The team suffered due to players still building an understanding up with one another – such as attacking duo Mauro Icardi and Lautaro Martinez – and it must be remembered that the likes of Milan Skriniar and Radja Nainggolan did not play whatsoever also.
