Inter manager Luciano Spalletti addressed the gathered media during his post-match press conference at the San Siro and firstly spoke on what went wrong in the second half where Inter blew a two goal lead.
“We probably made it look easy at the end of the first half, but in the second half we lost too many duels, and then there was that poor reading on their first goal which created problems. We were unable to recover and then it went 2-2.”
Spalletti was then asked on his game plan and the absence of Miranda.
“I wanted to see an attacking match from us and see us get stuck in to the opponent and we did that very well. I do not understand where I want to go in terms of tactical identity though. Last year we had a strong formation, this year we are working with two. It is clear that we need to do more though.
“Miranda was missing as I wanted to play an attacking game and he excels himself more in other areas so that is why I chose Skiniar and De Vrij.”
Spalletti concluded the press conference by discussing the reasoning behind cancelling the planned rest day that typically takes place after any match.
“The reason why was out there for you to see. There were many poor readings in the game, particularly at the first goal. You the media have created this anti-Juve concept, and you carry it on. I am coaching Inter and I have to be there with those 5 teams to annoy Juventus, we have to compete with Roma and Napoli.”
