Piero Ausilio: “Icardi & Lautaro Injured Themselves Yesterday”

Inter Sporting Director Luciano Spalletti stopped by Sky Sport Italia to share his thoughts on the match against Bologna beginning with talking about the absence of Mauro Icardi due to injury.

Ausilio confirmed that: “Icardi and Lautaro both suffered physical injuries yesterday, as it is very recent we need to verify how serious this is in the coming days, but Keita will play, we took him so we could have more choices up front. We are putting a team on the pitch that is competitive anyway, regardless of any absences. We did not discover Nainggolan today, the only problem is that he has been able to work hard, he has skipped the preseason preparation but he has a lot of experience, quality and a desire that allows him to give a lot. He wants to do well like the whole team.”

Ausilio was then asked about Borja Valero and Joao mario’s statuses in the squad: “They are both resources that the coach has at his disposal, just like Gagliardini who plays today. With Borja Valero, Gagliardini, Vecino and Nainggolan our midfield is complete. It is difficult to find a midfield playmaker today, the ones you have you have to hang on to, as Pjanic at Juventus.”

In conclusion Ausilio was asked about how the new players are adapting into the team to which he replied: “We must continue to work, stay together and grow daily. I’m calm because I see the staff working well, you can start well or not so well but if you have the conviction and belief in the project, the quality of the team and of hard work so I am calm quiet and I feel comfortable reassuring our fans. This is a team made up of experienced players, talented young players, top-notch staff, they must lead us to a good result, I am convinced of this.”
