Antonio Candreva appeared destined to move on this summer and once that did not look so likely as the transfer window neared its close, he looked set for a season on the bench. However, everything changed on Saturday night as he made a near instant impact off the bench as he took just over three minutes (three minutes and ten seconds to be precise) to find the back of the net, Gazzetta dello Sport detail.
It was the Italian international’s first competitive goal for Inter in some 504 days after a very frustrating season in front of goal last term.
Candreva had said yes to Monaco well aware that there would not be as much space as before following the arrivals of Keita Balde and Matteo Politano but the move collapsed when it appeared the principality club only wanted him on loan. Once this happened, Candreva got his head down and kept working in the hope that with Inter fighting on three fronts for the early part of the season at least, he would get his chance eventually.
