Lionel Messi, the captain and talisman of Inter’s Champions League group stage opponents Barcelona, has set his sights on going all the way in this year’s competition following years of under performing from the Blaugrana in the competition in recent years.

“We have to win the Champions League, we have a spectacular team. We have to because we have been going out in the quarter-finals for three years in a row and the last one was the worst of all. We have to aim for this, as a club, as a team and I believe we can do this as we have the right team to win this competition,” Messi remarked during an interview with Radio Catalunya when quizzed on his ambitions for the tournament.

The multi-time world player of the year is a four time winner of European football’s top continental competition and last won the competition in the 2014/15 season.
