Corriere dello Sport have sung the praises of Inter goalkeeper Samir Handanovic following his performance in the Nerazzurri’s 3-0 win over Bologna on Saturday, arguing that the Slovenian was just as decisive in their success as opening goal-scorer Radja Nainggolan.

“After the mistakes made against Torino he needed to send a message in order to call off the search for his replacement ahead of next season, which had already begun on social media (if not at the club), and that’s precisely what Handanovic did.

“In a stadium where he’s often stood out for great saves in the past he saved Inter and helped pave the way for their first, crucial, win of the season.

“Without his save to deny Filip Helander when the game was still 0-0 the match could have finished differently, and so if everyone has praised Nainggolan for his goal the Slovenian deserves just as much praise. It was a save worth three points for Inter, exactly like Ninja’s strike to make it 1-0.”
