With the first international break of the 2018-19 season now under way, Corriere dello Sport have delved into some of the statistics which have emerged from the first three rounds of the new Serie A campaign.
Among the parameters investigated were pass completion rate, average possession and the number of fouls suffered by each team, and in all three of these areas it was found that Inter boast impressive numbers, despite the Nerazzurri’s underwhelming start to the season.
“Milan are currently on top for passes completed,” they wrote on Tuesday, “with a rate of 88.53% that is slightly higher even than Juventus’s 88.44%. Inter are also doing well with 87.18%, just behind third-placed Napoli on 87.47%.
“What stood out from the last round of matches in particular, though, were Inter’s possession stats at Bologna: virtually 74%, with an exceptional pass completion rate of 90.22%. In other words, only one pass out of ten went astray.
“As far as fouls are concerned Inter are currently the second-most fouled team behind Cagliari (47), having suffered 45.”
