AC Milan President Describes San Siro Talks With Inter As ‘Fruitful’

Milan president Paolo Scaroni has described initial talks with Inter over the renovation of San Siro as ‘fruitful’ and does not exclude the possibility of a joint ownership in the future.

Inter have been keen to modernise their home stadium – which is currently owned by the local council – for years, with both current owners Suning and predecessor Erick Thohir identifying it as a priority of theirs, but precious little progress has been made up until now as co-tenants Milan are still uncertain over their plans going forward.

“The important thing is to have a modern stadium,” Scaroni told Gazzetta dello Sport on Friday. “Whether it’s owned by the council or the clubs is not the key issue.

“I wouldn’t rule out the possibility of both clubs owning the stadium – I’m open to all possible solutions. San Siro is an iconic stadium, the venue of great successes for both Milan clubs.

“We’ve built it and we’ve won there – what are we going to do now, leave it? Although that is possible, of course. In any case, our talks with Inter have begun positively.”
