Lautaro ‘Could Form Super Partnership’ With Icardi According To Former Teammate

Lautaro Martinez could become the best Argentine striker of his generation and is capable of forming a ‘super partnership’ with Mauro Icardi at Inter, according to former teammate Juan Musso.

Martinez impressed supporters with his performances for the Nerazzurri during pre-season but has had a difficult start to life in Serie A, failing to shine against Sassuolo on his competitive debut before barely featuring in the next two matches.

However hopes remain high that the 21 year-old will become a key player for Inter in the future and Musso, who played with Martinez in Argentina before completing a move to Udinese this summer, has no doubts that he will eventually show his true value.

“I think Inter have made a great signing,” he told Gazzetta dello Sport on Friday. “Argentina have a lot of great forwards coming through but I think he is potentially the best.

“Lautaro is a quick thinker – that’s the first thing that struck me. He’s great at playing with one or two touches and he’s an excellent player, not least in the penalty area. I think he could form a super partnership with Mauro Icardi.

We’ve known each other since we were kids and as soon as I can I’ll come and see him in Milan.”
