Italian pundit Mario Sconcerti has looked at the gap between Juventus and their apparent title challengers – including Inter – in his weekly column for Corriere della Sera.

“Napoli has 3 points less than a year ago, Roma have 2 less than a year ago, Inter 8 less and Lazio 3 less. Only Juventus is on a par with last year’s start with 12 points out of 12. There is no opponent for them as the other teams are missing.”

Sconerti believes that the first round of Champions League fixtures will give other clubs a chance to show what they are made of.

“It will be interesting to see the first round of Champions League to give us another comparison. The impression is that until today in Italy they are playing modestly, a lot of action in midfield, but not a lot of dribbling and very few shots on goal.”

Sconcerti paid specific attention to Inter’s Champions League match with Tottenham Hotspur.

“It will be a good match at San Siro between Inter and Tottenham. They are two teams that have grown but can not complete. They have their merits and limitations and this match will provide an answer as to where they are going.”
