Former Inter and Tottenham Hotspur player Nicola Berti spoke ahead of this evening’s clash between two of his former clubs.
In the interview with Gazzetta dello Sport Berti revealed he believes there are four reasons why Inter should still be confident.
“There are at least four reasons. The first is that it is only mid-September, the fitness and the understanding will improve from one game to the next. Secondly there is the growth of the Croatians, thanks to the World Cup, they can give us more inter-nationality. Thirdly, for a while Spalletti did not have Nainggolan at his disposal. Fourthly, Inter have many players that I would call universal which means they can switch between systems during the game.”
Berti then spoke more specifically on the teams contesting in the match and suggested Inter could fine more success continentally this season than domestically.
Tottenham are more experienced because in the last few years they’ve been in the Champions League unlike Inter but Inter are slightly stronger. Spurs have a good midfield, Dembelé is very good and their attack is phenomenal.
It could be the case that Inter will be stronger in the Champions League than in the league. Qualifying for the next round is possible, but Barcelona are also there with Inter and Spurs.
He concluded the interview with the Milan based newspaper talking about Radja Nainggolan.
“He never takes his foot off the gas and I think this will appeal to the fans. He does not shut himself up at home watching TV and it’s right for him to have contact with the city and the fans.”
