Zenga: “Inter’s Match With Spurs Tonight Is Decisive”

In an interview with SportItalia ahead of Inter vs Spurs in the Champions League, former goalkeeper Walter Zenga stressed that this match is the ideal opportunity for Inter to turn things sound and get their season back on track.

“In the Champions League against Tottenham you can’t fail to be motivated. It’s the right match to ensure that things change. I’ve always been convinced that it’s the players who go on to the pitch that can change things and they can solve things with their quality.

“There are problems right now and Spalletti said as much in his Press conference, but he also said that the match with Tottenham is the right one and that Inter can be reborn because they’re a good team. It’s important to understand that in a group with Tottenham and Barcelona it’s not easy, you can’t fail in the first game.”

Zenga also believes that a win tonight would do more than just simply get Inter off to the best possible start in Europe.

“It’s a decisive one, because if they win they can prepare for the Genoa match with more attention and enthusiasm, whereas if they don’t win it becomes more complicated. Winning gives you the chance to work and improve on mistakes with a smile.”
