Italian Media Laud Crazy Win Against Spurs But “Inter & Spalletti Should Not Get Carried Away”

The Italian press lavish praise on Inter after the win last night at the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza against Tottenham in the opening group stage fixture of the Champions League.

Milano based Corriere della Sera explains what went down at Mezza last night when Inter, once again, had a late comeback win: “Last night everything happened at the end in a game that seemed lost for Inter which would mean that the Nerazzurri’s Champions League adventure would already have been compromised after the first game. Tottenham, more experienced and used to the environment of such an important game, was ready to conquer Meazza and throw the crowd into a rage after the second defeat in a row. But the remaining 8 minute drew another scenario, as unthinkable and beautiful as how crazy of a football team Inter can be at times.”

The newspaper continues stating that the match was a microcosm of the Nerazzurri “You can see all of Inter in this crazy win, it is in the club’s history and DNA. Icardi, possibly one of the worst players of the game so far, ignited the stadium with a right footer from outside the area in his first goal of the season, in his first Champions league game ever. This was also the spark that Spalletti waited for, from that moment and on everything changed and after that Vecino grew into a giant, wins the duel against his opponent at gets three point for Inter thanks to his header after 90 minutes has passed. But Spalletti has to remind himself that this was preceded by 80 minutes of suffering, but maybe we will see a newly born Inter against Sampdoria on Saturday, the Inter that was supposed to be the anti-Juventus but already are 8 points behind the reigning Serie A champions.”
