Zanetti: “Unfortunately Things Did Not Go Well For De Boer At Inter, We Have Big Ambitions For Champions League”

In an interview with Dutch outlet De Telegraaf, Inter vice-president Javier Zanetti spoke on Frank de Boer’s disastrous tenure in charge of Inter.

“Frank had always been extremely professional from day one but bad luck meant that things did not go well for him at Inter. This is always a difficult situation. In the end we had to sack him but at the same time I hope that the decision does not affect the personal relationship because Frank is a good guy and a great professional. Unfortunately for him the results did not turn out in his favour.”

Zanetti proceeded to discuss Inter’s Champions League ambitions and next opponents in PSV Eindhoven.

We have big ambitions for the Champions League. We are very aware of the strength of the PSV. They are a well-organized, quality team that are not easy to deal with.”

To conclude the interview, Zanetti spoke on former Inter and Netherlands playmaker Wesley Sneijder.

“Wesley was an important factor in the year of the triplete. He came from Real Madrid and the speed with which he integrated into the Nerazzurri family was incredible. He was an added value both on and off the pitch.”
