Santos president Jose Carlos Peres believes keeping loanee Gabriel ‘Gabigol’ Barbosa around for longer is a difficult task.
“It is a very difficult thing to anticipate. He has a four-year contract with Inter and they spent a total of 88 million dollars to sign him [transfer fee and his wages for duration of contract], so it works out at about 22 million dollars a season,” Peres told the media after Santos’ win over Corinthians, in which the 22-year-old scored the only goal of the game.
“It is something complicated as the Nerazzurri have already loaned him for a year and if they went and done it again they would lose another 22 million dollars. Then I think that with a contract at 50% they would complain of losses.”
Since returning to his boyhood club back in the January transfer window, the 2016 Rio Olympics gold medallist, has managed to rekindle the form that lead Inter to buying him back in 2016.
