Mauro Icardi shared his disappointment after the 2-0 defeat to Barcelona in the Champions League that put an end to a seven match winning streak.
“I think the difference today was in the first half, where we did not perform like we have in the past. We left too many spaces and left the game in their hands. In the second half we did better, we made a lot of mistakes and we could have done better in finishing off chances,” he explained in an interview with Italian broadcaster Sky Sport.
“We knew that we were capable but we faced some world champions who have won everything in the last few years but in the first half we conceded the first goal and then it became difficult for us to score.”
He then looked ahead to the reverse fixture in two weeks time at San Siro.
“I am not very happy with the result because we could have done better from the start. We were forced to stay behind the ball and in the reverse fixture we will have to do a lot better.”
