Santos president Jose Carlos Peres has revealed the difficulty of renewing Gabriel ‘Gabigol’ Barbosa’s loan with the club but refused to completely rule it out.
“Gabriel was sold to Inter for about €30m and he signed for five years. The Chinese who own Inter have already declared that they have lost a quarter of that figure which they can not get back because there are only three years on his contract left, Peres explained in an interview with Brazilian news outlet O Globo.
“They do not want to lose more money, so a new loan is difficult, very difficult in fact. Everything is possible though and the parties will keep talking and Santos will always try to be the player’s first choice.”
The 22-year-old Brazilian forward joined the Peixe on a year long loan back in the January transfer window and has just two months remaining of his loan contract.
