Stefan de Vrij To Make Stadio Olimpico Return Months After Leaving Lazio For Inter

After five and a half months, Stefan de Vrij will return to the Stadio Olimpico, the ground of his former employers Lazio, as Inter take on the Aquile tomorrow night, a report from Rome based newspaper Corriere dello Sport highlights

His last match at the Olimpico was Lazio vs Inter, the game that would decide which club would be headed for the Champions League and which would have to settle for Europa League. The Dutchman put in a good performance by all accounts but his performance is tainted by the foul on Mauro Icardi which allowed Inter back in to the game and gave them confidence to go on and win and go to the Champions League.

The 26-year-old is expected to return to the staring line-up having missed the last game against Barcelona, this due to Luciano Spalletti preferring Miranda’s European experience to de Vrij’s relative lack of experience in comparison. Despite this, Corriere dello Sport have praised him for his quick adaption to life as part of the Nerazzurri where he has had to learn a new system.
