“I think we have to believe in our strength. Barça will control the game and it is hard to play matches like this, we try to control the ball in the league but it will be different here. We need to be aware of that and play on it.

“I think we can beat them, if not we would not play the match. We need to have the right confidence and be aware that we can hurt them.”

The Spaniard then spoke more on Barcelona’s play style.

“Barcelona have this ball playing style in their DNA, it is difficult to press them and they press very well. It is not a coincidence that they always put Spanish clubs in difficulty, but by the same token we have seen that they are beatable and we need to find the way to do it.”

“Barcelona are favourites, we are in the Champions League after many years of absence but we know what we have to do and what we can achieve. We know their strength and that they’re never afraid, but we have confidence in ourselves and we’ve shown that. Let’s see what happens.”

He concluded by discussing what kind of difference if any Lionel Messi’s possible absence will make to the game.

“Of course there will be a difference. He is one of the best players in the world, if not the best. We have prepared for both scenarios, and what we need to do in either case.”
