In this round of Champions League fixtures, just like the round before this, Inter, Juventus and Napoli will all face three of European football’s giants in Barcelona, Manchester United and PSG.
These clubs are also giants financially, and Italian football, is slowly recovering economically and Inter is one example of this as Rome based Corriere dello Sport reports: “Inter’s latest budget was closed with a deficit of -€17.8 million, an improvement of €6.8 million compared to the last budget for 2016/2017 that had a deficit of -€24.6 million.”
According to the report there is light at the end of the tunnel: “By removing a lot of expenses, Inter has met the requirements of the Financial Fair Play stated in the agreement that former President Erick Thohir signed in May 2015. This month there will be a budget check of what has happened since June 30th this year and in the absence of any surprises, Inter and Suning should get the ok from Uefa from July 1st next year.”
“It should be noted that Inter has risen from a €-140 million deficit in 2014 to the current balance sheet thanks to €347 million in revenues, revenues that will increase in 2018/2019 since revenues from the Champions League will come” the Corriere conclude.
