Inter Captain Icardi: “Barcelona The Best team In The World, We Could Have Won”

Mauro Icardi spoke with Italian broadcaster Sky Sport after the 1-1 draw with Barcelona in the Champions League in which he scored Inter’s goal.

“We suffered because we played against what I think is the best team in the world. They played their classic possession style but we did not give up and always stayed in the match and in the end we got the draw. Maybe we could have done a little bit more though so we could have won this match too,” he said.

Icardi then spoke on his goal and Matias Vecino who once again played a part in a late goal for Inter by assisting his goal.

“My goal was a bit lucky. Vecino? We keep him on the field until the end, he never goes off, even if he is exhausted.”

He concluded the interview by looking ahead to the next two group stage games.

“It is a good point for us. We had to get points because the next two games will not be easy. We want to pass through the group stage. Against Tottenham we hope to repeat what we did tonight.”
