Joao Mario Could Be Given Another Chance Against Atalanta

Having been forced to miss out Inter’s Champions League draw with Barcelona due to not being in the squad, Joao Mario could find himself back in the starting line-up once more this weekend as Inter travel to nearby Bergamo to take on Atalanta according to a report from Gazzetta dello Sport.

With Joao Mario out, Radja Nainggolan made a return to the starting eleven on Tuesday night but showed signs of struggle during his hour-long outing against the Spanish giants.

Inter manager Luciano Spalletti could therefore opt to give the Belgian midfielder a rest for the game and allow the Portuguese another chance to impress having massively done so in the past two league games.

Spalletti made the surprise decision to start Joao Mario in the 3-0 demolition of Lazio where he put in one of his best performances in an Inter shirt yet. Spalletti kept the faith in the 25-year-old for the match against Genoa and his faith was repaid by the former Sporting Lisbon man who delivered a goal and a hat-trick of assists in the 5-0 rout.

The report goes on to state that Stefan de Vrij could drop down to the bench and Miranda would come in for him.
