Inter Midfielder Brozovic Now Too Costly For Sevilla After Almost Joining In January

Marcelo Brozovic has made so much progress at Inter in recent months that his January suitors Sevilla would no longer be able to afford him, according to reports in Spain.

Brozovic came within hours of joining the La Liga outfit on loan on the final day of the winter transfer window as Inter stepped up their pursuit of Paris Saint-Germain forward Javier Pastore, having fallen out with the club’s supporters after an inconsistent start to the 2017-18 season.

However Luciano Spalletti’s decision to block the move at the eleventh hour meant the Croatian remained in Milan, where his fortunes were then radically transformed during the second half of the campaign.

Brozovic recently signed a new contract with the Nerazzurri and can now be prized away via his €60 million release clause, but Seville-based paper Estadio Deportivo wrote on Sunday that they would not be able to afford such an investment.

“Sevilla have always been interested in the player ever since Monchi was their sporting director,” they said.

“Now though he has become one of those players who is out of the club’s price range, less than a year after they agreed personal terms with him and had bought his tickets for a flight to Seville.”
