It has been a season of consecration for Inter striker Mauro Icardi who has scored his first Champions League goal and national team goal too. As a result, he is now recognised as one of the best strikers in the world and with that there is interest in his services according to a report from Gazzetta dello Sport.

Real Madrid have began to send signals of interest in his direction but the report from the Milan based newspaper insists that Inter remain at work on tying him down to a new and improved contract.

Talks over a new deal started some time ago and there is some distance between Inter’s proposal and Icardi’s demands. From July onward, where all going well Inter will have exited the settlement agreement with UEFA, he could see an increase in salary at San Siro.

Gazzetta also note some stats about Icardi’s play, stating that he averages a shot every 31 minutes and of his 36 shots at goal, 18 of them have come from situations where he has got on the end of crosses, 12 of which have come from the left hand side.
