Claudio Ranieri: “Inter Lost At Wembley Thanks To Pocchettino’s Substitutions”

Newly appointed Fulham manager Claudio Ranieri gave an interview to Milano based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport where he began by stating that: “To be away from coaching has been hell. People say that coaching is stressful, but for me it is quite the opposite. Without coaching I am like a lion in a cage.”

Who made the first call after your appointment as the Fulham manager?

“José Mourinho, a great man, great coach and a great character.”

Any games from your career that you would like to replay?

“Monaco-Chelsea in the UCL semi-final. And also the games against Livorno when I coached Roma to the second place in the Serie A. It was not the defeat against Sampdoria that made us lose the Scudetto, it was the points dropped against Livorno.”

Inter will play for the qualification in the last round of the UCL group stage?

“I saw the game against Tottenham and Pocchettino played his cards well, the substitutions of Son and Eriksen were decisive.”

We have Brexit, populism and division among people, hard times for Europe

“As a citizen of the world I have to say that a project like Europe remains as a beautiful vision. Mistakes have been made but going back would be another mistake.”

Vaccines are also contested

“This is madness, people have forgotten about times when diseases like polio were circulating.”
