Inter Full-Back Vrsaljko In Contention To Start Against Roma

Sime Vrsaljko is contention to make a surprise return to Inter’s starting XI as the Nerazzurri prepare to face Roma on Sunday evening, according to Gazzetta dello Sport.

Vrsaljko has not featured for Luciano Spalletti’s side since sustaining a thigh injury while on international duty with Croatia, when he was forced off during the first half of their defeat to England on 18 November.

However the 26 year-old has now shaken off his physical gremlins and could be named at right-back for tonight’s crunch match at the Stadio Olimpico.

Spalletti is expected to stick with his preferred 4-3-3 system against the Giallorossi, with Miranda favourite to replace Stefan De Vrij in the centre of defence.

Ivan Perisic will keep his place on the left wing ahead of Keita Balde while Joao Mario will replace the injured Radja Nainggolan, who was left out of the squad and hopes to return for Inter’s decisive Champions League match against PSV Eindhoven on 12 December.

Probable Inter XI (4-3-3): Handanovic; Vrsaljko, Skriniar, Miranda, Asamoah; Vecino, Brozovic, Joao Mario; Politano, Icardi, Perisic.
