“We are absolutely in line with our targets. We have always talked about a consolidation of the last season’s position, the goal is to qualify for the Champions League again.

He then went on to speak about the latest with regards to Inter captain Mauro Icardi signing a new contract with the club.

“There is no problem [with the renewal]. Icardi is Inter in all respects, we are very happy with our captain, I think he has showed he deserves to wear the captain’s armband.”

Ausilio then spoke on former Primavera starlet Nicolo Zaniolo, who has performed well since his summer move to Roma as part of the Radja Nainggolan to Inter deal.

“Is Zaniolo a regret? At that precise moment we were convinced to close the deal even though he was young. I am happy with the success of a player who grew up at Inter, there are many of them.”

He concluded the interview by speaking on Luka Modric, who is largely expected to be crowned Balon D’or winner today.

“We are happy that a Croatian footballer, a friend of our players, has had this recognition. I would like to see an Inter footballer in the near future life the award.”
