Mauro Icardi’s proposed contract renewal is worth more to Inter than simply tying down their star man in the eyes of Tuttosport.
Tensions have rose in recent days with comments his wife and agent Wanda Nara made but despite this, Inter are still looking at finding an agreement over a new contract to prolong the captain’s stay in Milan.
A new contract with the Nerazzurri would, on the one hand, calm Wanda down but on the other hand it could give Inter more control of his future, particularly if the release clause is removed.
If the release clause is removed in the new contract and should Wanda convince her husband to leave, Inter will be able to command a far higher fee and one closer to the €200 million mark. If a release clause is in the new contract, it will likely be around the €150-160 million mark and while still a huge amount of money, Inter are missing out on potential revenue.
