Inter’s central defender Milan Skriniar is definitely considered as an irreplaceable player for Luciano Spalletti and beyond the numbers, it has been clear that the Slovak is clearly at the centre of the Nerazzurri project in the eyes of Gazzetta dello Sport.
“It is not a mystery that the big European clubs like Skriniar and last summer Inter turned down an €80 million cheque signed by Manchester United and after his performance in the Champions League his value has increased. And from the post-match comments by Spalletti after the Barcelona game it is easy to understand that Inter would not even consider to sell the Slovak for less than €100 million: “If I was in Barcelona I would give €120 million where €20 million was a tip and if I was in Real Madrid those numbers would be €140 million with a €40 million tip”. This is how the market works, where everyone has a price.
“It is obvious that Inter has no intention of selling him, but should the right offer come – we are talking about a defender – it would impossible not to go for it, especially since there have been renewal talks for three months now. The ex-Sampdoria player makes €1.7 million net per season and his salary will be raised every year from 2019 to 2022 when the contract expires. During the meetings after last season, Inter offered a 50% raise, meaning €2.5 million a year until 2023. But the player is hesitating at the moment, partly because he wants €3 million per year and partly because he is curious to see what kind of offer he can get from other clubs. It is hard to say no to teams like Barcelona and Real Madrid.”
