Milan Police Chief Calls For Temporary Closure Of Inter’s Curva Nord

Milan Police chief Marcello Cardona has given a statement on the events that unfolded outside San Siro last night believed to be between Inter and Napoli’s ultra’s groups.

Four Napoli fans were stabbed outside the ground. One was taken to hospital to be given stitches while the other three were treated for minor injuries. An Inter fan was also hit by a van about an hour before kick-off and was taken to hospital for emergency surgery but he was unable to survive.

“These incidents suddenly erupted, these ultras came out and hit the Napoli fans with some bars and clubs,” he said.

“Four Neapolitan supporters were wounded. One for a cut wound and three more for bruises. One went to the hospital, the others to see the game. An Inter ultra, who has been previously suspended, was run over by an SUV. We began our investigation immediately and we have arrested two of Inter’s ultras but we are looking for another as we have identified a third person from the images we have.

“It is a very serious situation and for these reasons I will request urgently to prohibit the travel of Inter fans until the end of the season. In addition to this, I will request the immediate closure of the Curva Nord for five matches plus one in the Coppa Italia.”
