Cagliari midfielder Nicolo Barella has addressed the continued transfer rumours that have seen him linked with the likes of Inter and Napoli in Italy and many other clubs outside of Italy in recent months.

“The transfer rumours are a stimulus for me. I have never given too much weight to compliments or criticism, I am not impervious, but I know that in this world nobody gives you anything for free and you have to earn everything yourself. If there are other clubs interested in me it means that I’m doing my job well,” he said in an interview with La Nuova Sardegna.

The Italian international then spoke on his main aim for this year and admitted to being clueless about what the future holds for him.

“To continue playing with the National team. At this moment I have not got the faintest idea of ​​what will happen in my future.”
