Inter will table Mauro Icardi a contract extension however, according to a report from Tuttosport, his wife/agent Wanda Icardi will reject it.

The proposal will consist of a €7 million annual salary and would see Icardi’s contract at Inter extended from 2021 to 2023. The offer would keep Icardi as the highest paid member in the squad going forward and bring his salary closer in line with other star players in Serie A.

The reason Wanda intends to reject the contract offer is because she believes it will send the wrong message after months of very public tension between herself, her husband and the club.

She has recently stressed that the recent tension has nothing to do with getting a new and improved deal, something she also claims her husband has not requested.

This season Icardi has made 28 appearances across all competitions and he has scored 15 goals in the process as well as tallying three assists.
