Corriere della Sera have offered their understanding of the events that led to Mauro Icardi not being called up for the match day squad to face Lazio today.
At training yesterday, when the squad were all together, Inter manager Luciano Spalletti asked Icardi if he had anything to say to which the Argentine said he had nothing to say.
This, as per the report, irritated Spalletti, who, like the rest of the team, is still awaiting an apology from the 26-year-old for the events of the past few weeks.
The report goes on to state that even if Icardi had apologised, it is unlikely that Spalletti would have called him up anyway after he has spent over 40 days out of action and is still not in a match-ready condition.
Icardi made the last of his 28 appearances across all competitions this season back on February 9 in the Nerazzurri’s 1-0 win over Parma and Corriere della Sera conclude that he could be back in the squad for Wednesday’s match against Genoa.
