Icardi Should Be Called Up For Inter’s Match Away To Genoa

Mauro Icardi trained regularly today according to a report from Sky Sport as he nears a comeback after close to two months out.

The 26-year-old Argentine has not played for the club since February 9, officially down to a knee injury. He was largely expected to be part of the squad for last night’s defeat to Lazio but Inter manager Luciano Spalletti announced during his press conference that Icardi would play no part due to a training ground incident.

That incident, as per various reports, was Icardi’s failure to apologise to his teammates for the events of recent weeks when invited to do so by Spalletti.

Following last night’s game, Spalletti ranted about Icardi’s situation and the Italian broadcaster go on to report that in his addressing of the squad at the beginning of training, Spalletti made no reference to what was said last night wherein he labelled the fact that there were negotiations in order to get Icardi back in an Inter shirt ‘humiliating.’

The report concludes that Icardi should be called up for Wednesday night’s match away to Genoa.
