Milan president Paolo Scaroni has reiterated his desire for the Milanese clubs to build a new stadium.
“I’d miss San Siro too, but I miss a winning Milan even more. If we build the stadium on public land, it seems obvious to me that the structure remains in place,” he remarked in an interview with Il Sole 24 Ore.
“It’s not a problem for us, providing the council takes this into account when deciding the duration and terms of the concession.
“My plan is to give Milan the most beautiful stadium in the world, and there’s only one way: building a stadium from scratch.”
He then spoke on the idea of renovating and modernising San Siro.
“Restructuring San Siro is impractical for objective reasons: you can’t conduct pervasive work by playing every three days, while moving away from the city for three years. That just seems unacceptable to me.”
He concluded by speaking on the benefits of continuing to share with Inter.
“Sharing with Inter lets us reduce costs and because the technology allows us to change the branding and colouring of the stadium easily.
“Instead, we have to spend €4 million a year for these changes right now. Milan and Inter, unlike other teams, have proven to be able to live together.”
