Banti Should’ve Sent Cuadrado Off In Inter-Juventus

Gazzetta dello Sport have analysed the performance of referee Luca Banti in last night’s Derby D’Italia draw between Inter and Juventus at San Siro.

The 45-year-old’s biggest mistake was failing to send Juventus’ Juan Cuadrado off. At the start of the second half the Colombian attacker dived in the box and Banti should have booked him for simulation which would have resulted in him being sent off due to already being booked.

In the middle of the second half, Mauro Icardi was taken out in the box and was quick to claim for a penalty but Banti waved calls away, and rightly so. Federico Bernardeschi took him out but only having got to the ball first therefore Banti made the right decision.

In the dying embers of the game Cristiano Ronaldo claimed for a penalty as he collided with Kwadwo Asamoah but no penalty was given, which was the right decision.
