Radja Nainggolan spoke with the gathered journalists in the mixed zone following Inter’s 1-1 Derby D’Italia draw at home to Juventus last night.
“I am happy with the goal, but would have been more happier with a win to be honest. I think that we played a great game, 60 minutes of great play where we managed to put a great Juventus in difficulty. Only that extra thing is missing. I think we have to construct our future based on performances like this and hope that we can have more continuity in the future.”
He was then asked if he thinks third place is secured.
“Not even close to secured, the teams behind are getting some good results as well. In games like this, Juventus always wants to do good, even though they are already champions. We were super-prepared and played really well so there is a bit if bitterness not getting the three points.”
He then spoke on Juventus.
“Juventus have a lot of players that can make a difference, like Ronaldo. As for the rest, they didn’t have that many clear chances, while we could have scored two or three goals more. It was a great goal by Ronaldo.”
Nainggolan then discussed next weekend’s clash with Udinese.
“Every game is different, this is against a team that fights for its survival in the Serie A. There will be a lot of duels and a lot of fighting. Juventus is a team that wants to control the game, against teams like that you can find a lot of space and sometimes it is even easier to play well against a team like that. Against Udinese there will be a completely different type of play. We have to win the rest of the games in order to finish the season good.”
He penultimately spoke on the remainder of the season.
“In order to improve four matches from the finish line you also have to prepare for next season (laughing). But yes, we are especially dangerous when we don’t manage to win the important games. So keeping everything up until the end of the season is hard.”
He concluded by speaking on his season.
“I’m happier with the fact that I have always tried to give my best, even though my performances haven’t always been at the top level because I have had a lot of injuries etc, etc, but that’s not an excuse.
“You have moments like these when you play football, I have never had as many injuries in my career before, this is the first year, but it was bound to happen sometime. I can only hope that next year isn’t like this.”
