Inter remain in pole position to land Cagliari midfielder Nicolo Barella in the upcoming Summer transfer window as per a report from Sport Mediaset.

The Nerazzurri face competition from fellow Serie A outfit Napoli who have identified Barella as their number one target due to the possibility of Allan departing the club amid alleged continued interest in his services from French side PSG.

As per the broadcaster, Inter are ahead in the race to sign one of Italian football’s top prospects due to the fact they have been in negotiations with the Rossoblu for quite some time.

The 22-year-old Italian international has come through the ranks at the Sardinian club and has made over 100 appearances since debuting back in 2015 aged 17.

Barella has been near ever present having made 34 appearances across all competitions this season for the club. In over 3000 minutes on the park, Barella has contributed a single goal and tallied three assists.
