Inter Boss Spalletti’s Position Is Less Secure Than He Thinks

Luciano Spalletti’s position as Inter head coach is not as secure as he thinks, according to Gazzetta dello Sport.

Spalletti is more confident he will be allowed to carry on as the Nerazzurri’s boss for next season than he was a month ago, with two years left on his current deal.

However, Inter’s hierarchy remain divided on who should be in the dugout for the 2019-20 campaign and could replace Spalletti with Antonio Conte even if he secures a third-place finish in Serie A.

“On Spalletti’s side of the argument there are the results he has achieved in the past two seasons, a dressing room which has remained united despite everything and a club hierarchy that isn’t 100% convinced on sacking him,” Gazzetta reported today.

“Spalletti believes securing third place in Serie A, which Inter could do by beating Udinese this evening, would guarantee his future in Milan, but in reality it wouldn’t completely rule out a change in the dugout.”

Beppe Marotta remains in contact with Conte, who is also being courted by Roma, and is keen to appoint the man with whom he achieved so much success at Juventus.
