D’Ambrosio Saves Inter Yet Again With Empoli Heroics

Following yet more heroics in Sunday’s 2-1 win over Empoli, Gazzetta dello Sport have recalled previous occasions where defender Danilo D’Ambrosio has been Inter’s saviour.

With Empoli pushing for an equaliser, the Italian international full back made a crucial block and clearance to deny the visitors a second goal. The ball was played across the goal line with an Empoli player waiting alone at the back post but D’Ambrosio was able to get a touch on the ball and direct it off of the crossbar.

Last season he saved Inter by scoring the equalising goal away to Lazio on the final day of the season. Inter eventually went on to win the game 3-2 which secured them their place in the Champions League for this season.

This season, in the second Milan derby of the campaign, the 30-year-old put his body on the line to block Patrick Cutrone from making the game 3-3.
