Inter and Juventus are poised to fight for the signing of Federico Chiesa after the forward decided he wants to leave Fiorentina this summer, according to Gazzetta dello Sport.
Chiesa will only agree to stay in Florence if the club’s new owner Rocco Commisso, who is expected to complete a takeover in the coming weeks, matched the wages he is offered by the two Serie A giants, or if Fiorentina can prove they have serious ambitions for next season.
The 21-year-old wants to remain in Italy and has already rejected an offer from Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich, who were willing to offer Chiesa €7 million per season.
Inter and Juventus are therefore primed to battle it out for the Italian’s signature as the summer transfer window begins in earnest.
Both clubs are keen to include some of their own players as makeweights in the deal to reduce Fiorentina’s asking price, which the Milanese publication does not specify.
Inter are considering offering Roberto Gagliardini or Yann Karamoh, although the Viola would prefer Andrea Pinamonti if they were to accept this type of deal.
Juventus would look to offload Rolando Mandragora or Riccardo Orsolini, although the latter has expressed doubts over moving to Fiorentina. Moise Kean is considered unlikely to accept a move to Florence too.
Maurizio Sarri is expected to be confirmed as the Bianconeri’s new head coach this week but will only be able to welcome Chiesa to his new team if Juventus can sell Douglas Costa first.
Chiesa was linked with a move to Real Madrid earlier this year but the Spanish giants have cooled their interest since Zinedine Zidane was reappointed.
