Inter and Milan will meet with Milan city council at the end of June to formalise plans to leave San Siro for a new stadium, Corriere dello Sport reported today.
Both clubs are widely rumoured to want a move away from their historic home, in the aim of building a new 60,000-seater stadium with more modern facilities.
Should the plans be given the go-ahead the new stadium would most likely be ready for use in 2024, with costs expected to exceed €700 million.
“The meeting with the council will be the point of no return because that’s the moment the news everyone knows about will become official,” the paper said.
“There are still a lot of things to sort out because the new San Siro complex will not be just a stadium. It will be a broader redevelopment project which includes new commercial businesses – such as shops, restaurants and gyms – a hotel and a residential area.
“The new complex will be built on the side of the current car park at San Siro.”
