Inter will ultimately avoid a transfer standoff with striker Mauro Icardi by finding a compromise solution over the summer, according to Italian journalist and TV presenter Pierluigi Pardo.
Icardi has repeatedly expressed his desire to remain at Inter despite being stripped of the captaincy while the club are intent on selling him, creating the possibility of a poisonous cold war over the coming months.
Pardo presents popular Sunday night television show Tiki Taka with Icardi’s wife and agent Wanda Nara and doesn’t think the parties will let the situation deteriorate further.
“I think Icardi really does want to stay at Inter, but they’ll need to find a solution to this standoff because it would be excessive to keep him the squad without ever playing him,” Pardo told Radio Marte yesterday.
“After the tension of the last few months I’m confident a compromise will be reached.”
Pardo also expressed doubts over whether Icardi would be welcomed by Juventus supporters should he move to Turin.
“Icardi has done nothing to ingratiate himself towards them by identifying himself as an Interista through and through on social media,” he added.
“If Antonio Conte doesn’t want him around, though, then there’s not much to discuss.”
