Antonio Conte: “I Can’t Wait To Take Inter Back To Where They Belong”

Antonio Conte has told Inter supporters he cannot wait to take the Nerazzurri back where they belong after being appointed the club’s new head coach.

Conte was officially appointed on a three-year deal last week and has given an interview to GQ Magazine, which will be released on 11 June.

Gazzetta dello Sport this morning published a selection of quotes from the discussion, though, including Conte’s praise for CEO Beppe Marotta and president Steven Zhang.

“It’s been eight years since Inter fought for first place in Serie A,” Conte said.

“The club want to change things now and I was struck by Zhang’s determination. Marotta’s arrival here helped convince me to accept Inter’s offer, too, because it was confirmation of how serious their intentions are.

“I know there’s a lot of expectation on my shoulders given the results I’ve achieved and how quickly they’ve arrived. I can accept that we don’t have many possibilities to win at the start, but those possibilities have to be there.

“We can do it, we don’t have limits.”

Conte also played down the idea his past as a Juventus legend would create difficulties for him while settling in at Inter.

“It’s normal to work for different clubs when you’re a coach,” he added.

“The fans expect a lot from me and they’re right to do so.”
