Antonio Conte is preparing to use Matteo Politano in as many as four different positions for Inter next season, according to Tuttosport.
The forward is all but certain to be signed on a permanent basis by the Nerazzurri when his season-long loan deal from Sassuolo expires on 30 June.
Inter received six goals and eight assists in all competitions from the 25-year-old last season and will have an invaluable joker to play in attack when the 2019-20 campaign gets underway.
“If Conte sets up Inter to play with a 3-5-2 system, Politano will play as the second striker who will drop off the main centre-forward,” the Turin-based paper reported today.
“In the 3-4-2-1 used at Chelsea, meanwhile, the former Roma academy talent will be on the right-hand side of a front three, which wouldn’t be too different from the position he played under Luciano Spalletti.
“Politano would be comfortable playing at right midfield in a 4-2-4 too, and he could even be played at wing-back in a 3-5-2 in games where Inter need to attack or come from behind.
“Wherever he plays, he’ll be a key figure in Conte’s new-look team.”
Politano will be tied to Inter until the end of the 2022-23 season if and when the club exercise their €20 million option to buy.
