Piero Ausilio kept his cards close to his chest when quizzed by Sky Sport’s reporters on Inter’s bid to sign Nicolo Barella from Cagliari.

Ausilio was spotted at dinner last night with head coach Antonio Conte and the agents of three players: Federico Dimarco, Alessandro Bastoni and Eder.

Talks are thought to be progressing positively with Cagliari but the 46-year-old would not be drawn on the Nerazzurri’s latest business.

When asked if Inter were building a team that was less crazy than in previous years, Ausilio said: “We haven’t even started yet.

“There were a lot of agents in the restaurant but every agent is in Milan these days…”
