Inter & Cagliari Postpone Decisive Meeting For Barella Deal

Inter’s decisive meeting with Cagliari to finalise a deal for midfielder Nicolo Barella has been postponed as the Rossoblu still hold out for €50 million.

Cagliari president Tommaso Giulini was expected to meet Beppe Marotta at the Lega Calcio’s offices in Milan today but is instead abroad on a work visit.

Giulini has a €50 million offer from Napoli and wants Inter to match that valuation both by adding young players into the deal and by increasing their add-ons.

Barella has already agreed personal terms with Inter on a five-year deal worth €2 million per season in wages, meaning the deal will be completed quickly if the Nerazzurri meet those requests.

The 22-year-old scored for Italy on Saturday as they secured a 3-0 win over Greece in Euro 2020 qualifying, grabbing the opening goal from inside the box.

Cagliari have strengthened their bargaining hand with Barella’s positive performance and do not wish to reduce their asking price for a player they know Inter want.
